Dancing is constantly evolving and becoming more diverse. Those with a passion for dancing are constantly coming up with amazing new moves, and teaching others how to perform them. Whilst there are numerous traditional dances that are still enjoyed by many (for example ballet or country dancing), there are a growing number of new styles which reflect modern cultures and musical tastes. That is not to say that there is no cross over between the modern and older styles – on of the beauties of dance is that the potential to combine different styles is almost limitless.
As dance moves and styles change over time, so too do dance clothes. Traditional ballet outfits are suited to their own specific style, allowing for freedom of movement and, of course, the instantly identifiable appearance. Those who participate in newer kinds of dance want their clothing to be easily recognisable, helping audiences to understand their style and to help convey a dance’s origins. Though some ballet garments are used in popular culture (for example night clubbers wearing neon coloured tutus), there is usually a big difference in appearance between traditional dance wear and everyday wear. More recently, however, some people started performing dances in ordinary clothes, as a lot of urban styles originated in cultures with certain dress styles. In response to the need for trendy looking gear which looks at home worn every day, but which also allows a dancer to perform, dance wear manufacturers starting producing items such as dance sneakers.
Dance sneakers have the fashionable looks and comfort of trainers, but are specifically designed to work for dancers. There are numerous styles available to match most tastes and dance requirements. Some are designed to give ankles extra protection, allowing for more energetic or daring moves. Like some other kinds of dance shoes, dance sneakers are available with split soles. These allow extra flexibility in the foot, while still offering the foot protection of a thick rubber sole. The variety of colours and textures is incredible – although the majority of dance sneakers are black, there are variations in a multitude of colours, and from a number of trusted brands.
Those with a natural aptitude for dance really appreciate the expertise and specialist knowledge which goes into the design of dance wear in general. The growing trend for dance garments to look ‘street smart’ and fashionable is leading a lot of new people into the world of dance as well – some may have decided that ballet, jazz or tap was not for them, but still had an interest in learning the skills. Hip hop style moves are challenging but are also considered ‘cool’ by youngsters, and provide good exercise. Those who want to learn can find the array of colourful and attractive garments encouraging, knowing they can wow their audiences with dazzling clothes as well as an amazing performance. Enjoying dance is really important, and new styles and fashions are allowing more and more people from a diverse range of background to find their place in the dance community.

| 30-06-2009 | Trusting Jazz shoes | | כותרת המאמר : Trusting Jazz shoes תאריך: 30-06-2009 Trust is really important in all kinds of situations. People need trusting relationships with friends and family members to feel secure and happy, and have to put as much trust as they can in organisations such as the health service or police to feel safe. Nobody likes to be let down, especially not at times when they need support as much as possible. The recent press coverage of the MP expenses scandal has seriously damaged public trust in government, at a time when the ‘Credit Crunch’ already had national morale low. Members of the public can only hope that the irresponsible actions taken by both MPs regarding expenses, and banks regarding unwise investments lead to future changes in policies to prevent a repetition of current circumstances. There are many other times when people trust things, often without thinking about it – clothes are an example of this.
People place trust in shoe manufacturers to produce styles which will be comfortable and hardwearing. Shoes serve an important purpose – they keep feet safe. They also need to be suited to their specific use – wellington boots need to be waterproof, unlike running shoes which need to be breathable and designed to maximise performance. Those who work in environments in which feet may be in danger from falling objects wear sturdy boots with steel toecaps for protection. So shoes can be practical – but some can be the opposite, for example extremely high heels. These are worn purely for their appearance, but can even be dangerous if the wearer is not careful, causing trips and stumbles which can lead to serious injuries. Some shoes need to be both attractive and practical, and dancing shoes are an example of this. Jazz shoes need to be comfortable, durable and flexible. When used in performances, there is also a clear need for jazz shoes to be presentable and look good.
Those who jazz dance are usually very aware of what makes good jazz shoes, and know which brands can produce quality performance and appearance. Some of the better known brands include Bloch, So’Danca and Sansha, whose products are widely available from reputable dance stores both on the high street and on the internet. Once a dancer knows which shoes are right for them, they often choose to shop for them online, knowing that prices are often better and there are really wide ranges to choose from. For dancers, getting the right clothes is extremely important.
It may sound like a bizarre statement, but dancers need to trust their clothes to perform with them. They need to know that materials are more than capable of putting up with the strain of complex dance moves. Jazz shoes are no exception, as jazz dancers have to be completely confident in them. A risk of a poor quality shoe providing inadequate grip or being damaged during a dance can really have an impact on individual performance. Dancing is about letting nothing stop you from giving a piece your utter all and demonstrating amazing talent.

There are several ways in which those who love to dance, and who can do so at a high standard, can make a career out of their passion. The obvious careers such as backing and professional performance dancers appeal to many, but some others prefer to take on a role which requires the ability to teach others as well. Dance teachers need to have certain qualities so that they can instruct and nurture pupils enough for them to succeed. Some see teaching as a calling and have a deep desire to help others learn. For those who long to teach and love to dance, becoming a dance teacher is an obvious choice!
As with any kind of teacher, dance instructors need to be able to engage with a student. Getting to know individual pupils and understanding how they are motivated is a major part of teaching. In many modern educational settings, there are too many pupils per class, meaning they do not get enough individual support, being a private dance teacher means that student numbers are more in your control. Encouragement can go a long way in learning, students who are complimented when they have done well and who are given support when struggling tend to have a good attitude towards learning, which is something a tutor must encourage.
People choose to learn dancing at all sorts of ages – some like to attend dance lessons as they get older, as a way of socialising and keeping in shape. It is often the case that would be dancers have not had the opportunity in their early life to learn, as they may have worked long hours or had to raise a family. Increasingly, people in countries such as the UK are concerned about unhealthy weight gain. More sedentary lifestyles and a ready supply of foods high in fat, sugar, salt and calories are leading to large numbers of children and adults becoming obese. The health risks associated with obesity are now well known, so families are taking action and making efforts to be more active and to eat more healthily. Dance is an option for those looking to keep in shape, and there are dance classes available to cater for most ability levels. Whereas visiting the gym or doing press ups at home is not seen as fun, learning to dance can be.
A dance teacher can sometimes choose which sort of students they work with. They may want to work with budding professional ballet dancers, or teach hip hop or jazz moves. Some choose to teach older classes, or classes for those who want to dance for fun and healthy exercise. Being enthusiastic about a subject can be infectious, only too often teachers in poor schools have to teach students subjects they are not very familiar with, or that they do not enjoy. With dance teaching this is not a problem, dance schools are aware that only those who understand the art and science of dancer can teach others efficiently.
Today, dance is still of great importance to many and it is an area which is constantly accommodating new styles of music and performance. Clothing is another area in which innovation is welcomed, new fabrics and designs which can improve a dancers comfort or flexibility tend to catch on very fast. One design which has evolved recently and has taken the dance world by storm is a type of footwear – dance sneakers.
Dance sneakers are becoming increasingly popular for a number of reasons, they are suitable for a number of dance styles, are hard wearing and comfortable. A number of dancers prefer to wear dance sneakers in part due to their looks. They are available in a wide range of designs and colours to suit all sorts of taste. Of course, the kind of sneaker that is chosen will depend on which sort of dance they will be used for. Dance sneakers are commonly used for jazz, hip hop and a number of traditional styles. Top dance wear designers almost all have their own range of dance sneakers, as do brands that produce a wide range of sporting sneakers and trainers. The majority of people who dance can easily see the benefits of using sneakers; they are comfortable, flexible and protect a dancer’s feet well. The materials used should be breathable and mould to individual requirements to an extent, further enhancing fit and comfort.
When choosing any sort of dance shoe flooring should be taken into consideration, it is important that the shoes will provide adequate traction and grip. Many kinds of shoes specifically for dancing have patches of different materials on their soles to allow spinning and similar moves to be performed easily despite the grip the rest of the sole provides. Split soles allow for great flexibility, although today some dance shoe manufacturers say they can produce full soles that are similarly flexible.
There’s always going to be a reason why a dancer chooses to wear certain styles of foot wear and other clothing. Often, dance tutors and classes specify which kinds they require. As a dancer becomes more experienced they will become more aware of which kinds of foot wear are more suited to their individual needs. One thing the majority of dancers have in common is their desire to perform to the very best of their ability, to be the best they can be. For people who love to move the gateway to that other side of life, the world of dance, will open up and can provide many years of joy to the dancer and their audience.

Dancing has been popular among humans for thousands of years, for all kinds of reasons. The summer season has loads of people here in the UK feeling bright, despite the news concerning the economy and the swine flu outbreak. Keeping healthy is really important, and large numbers of people wish to get fit and healthy during the summer months. As a lot of people work in offices these days, and spend evenings watching TV or on their computer, they are burning less calories than they may have done in the past, when there were more physically demanding jobs and quite intense housework. This is one of the problems with the modern lifestyle, one which focuses on convenience.
One problem with exercise is that it can appear very daunting, especially to those who are not used to it. Some do not see the attraction in jogging or attending the gym. There are, however, opportunities for whole families to remain fit whilst also enjoying themselves, and dance is one of them. There are dance classes available for almost any ability level and age group, ones which are just for fun, and those which can even lead to future careers. In order to start dance classes, an individual will need appropriate dance wear. There are numerous dance clothing bargains to be found both online and in stores, and at the moment competition between retailers is fierce. The kinds of clothes needed will depend on the style of dance being performed as well as individual taste, some may need leotards, others tutus or unitards. Some dance classes are quite strict in regards to uniforms, and will provide guidelines for the style and colour needed. There are a lot of dance wear brands to choose from, such as Capezio, Bloch and Plume. The well known sportswear brand Nike produces a range of dance clothing as well. Tastes differ, and most experienced dancers are well aware of which brand they prefer, and which suits their style. Novice dancers often do the wise thing and seek advice from those who are more experienced before buying their garments.
Manufacturers of dance clothes such as Plume or Capezio understand the needs of dancers. Materials need to stretch and then to return to their original shape. Any energetic activity requires clothing that can help to keep the wearer at the right temperature. The materials used in dance and athletic clothes are designed to wick perspiration away from the body, allowing for a more stable temperature. Some performances require very close fitting clothes, which are almost like a second skin to enable unhindered movement, but brands like Plume also cater for dances which have very different requirements, producing hoodies, tshirts and adjustable length trousers. A lot of modern dancewear can be worn both in and out of the studio – those who like to show off their designer Nike or Plume dance gear can wear it out on the street, showing off their love of dance to the world. Announce and enhance your passion with great dance clothing.

When you hear people talk about dance clothes, ballet dancers usually come to mind. The variety of outfits designed for professional dancers is much more extensive than that, however. If we dig a little deeper into the subject, you’ll find that there are clothes made for many different types of dance, and each have their special place in a performer’s wardrobe.
If you try, you can probably think of many different items of clothing that could be categorized by the general term “dancewear.” Leotards, unitards, comfortwear, tights, tutus, dresses, cheerwear – these are all examples of clothes designed for specific types of performance.
There are also many styles of shoes to consider as well, since dance clothes and outfits would not be complete without a matching, comfortable pair of shoes. From line dancing to tap, ballet to aerobics, and flamenco to jazz, anyone who dances as a performer needs the right shoe to move safely and comfortably through their routines.
So, what do these performers wear, and what are some of the differences between the various styles of dance clothes? Well, that depends. Sometimes a stage performance dictates that certain characters or chorus members will wear costumes that match the theme of the show. There are standards though that we can use to give a general picture of a few outfits.
Male ballet dancers typically wear a white shirt with black tights and ballet shoes in the studio. If you’re doing the tango, you will see more slacks, long-sleeve shirts, and leather shoes with a slightly higher heel than jazz shoes. In fact, black is a popular color for men, no matter what the style. A male performer’s clothing is much more basic overall than dance clothes for women.
Ladies have infinite choices, depending on the style of dance. For ballet, its leotards, tutus, tights, and ballet slippers or pointe shoes. For a more casual style, they can also wear spandex dresses, Capri or gaucho pants, shorts, and an infinite variety of heeled and flat shoes or sneakers.
An increasing number of online and brick-and-mortar vendors are offering liturgical robes and long dresses or leotards, sometimes called praisewear, designed with religious themes in mind.
Danskin and Capezio are two of the more well-known brand names that provide clothing for all of these different types of performers. Their reputations as long-time vendors in the modern dance industry make them reliable sources for finding the right items required for specific performances.
Another style of dance that has a distinct wardrobe is ballroom dancing. Modern attire might feature a halter dress or pullover matched with a long, flowing drapery skirt that adds flair to a female dancer’s routine. For something more bold, women might wear gauntlet gloves and sexy strapless dresses that show off a woman’s tender shoulders. They might have a beautiful necklace to wear that makes the outfit complete.
Its sometimes fun to look back at the styles worn in the roaring Twenties, when modern girls stepped out of their corsets and into as Charleston or a Shimmy in flapper skirts styled after fashion maven Coco Chanel. By today’s standards, these outfits are tame, but the same spirit of freedom burns inside many of those who wear the dance clothes of today.

Shoes, like other kinds of clothes, can tell us a lot about an individual. Some wear shoes purely for practical reasons – obviously we all need to protect our feet! Types of shoes vary depending on the style, culture, environment and activities of the wearer. For example, someone going on a cross country run may well wear trainers, where as someone planning on spending their day lazing at the beach may opt for sandals or even flip flops – these are not very practical for energetic pursuits, but are cool and provide protection for the soles of the feet. Some people need specific shoes for their jobs – builders need protective work boots and even chefs tend to wear specialist footwear. Others need a certain kind of shoes for their pastimes.
Those who tap dance not only need a shoe that allows them to perform their moves, but which can also supply the right sound. Tap shoes are available from a number of specialists, and many retailers sell online, which can be very convenient for those needed to compare brands and prices. The majority of tap shoes are made from leather, plastics and canvas, not including the all important metal taps. Some styles can be split soled, to allow for exceptional manoeuvrability. Heels are another important aspect of tap shoes – the majority of novice dancers stick to quite flat heels for a long time, but as ability and confidence grows, higher heels can be used. Of course, many styles of dance require specialist shoes, from ballet to hip hop.
The news seems to be rather dismal at the moment, focusing on the credit Crunch, as financial worries are affecting many families and individuals. Swine flu has just been officially declared a pandemic, and trust in government and banks it very low. If possible in these hard times, it is best to keep spirits up by doing things you enjoy, even if these are just the simple things. Going out for a walk with the family can give everyone a chance to relax and chat, plus it’s good exercise! Some people may want to take up whole new hobbies for a variety of reasons, or want to encourage the talent and enthusiasm of a child for a specific pastime. This could be art classes, sports lessons or attending a dance school. There are a lot of offers available in a lot of areas at the moment, as retailers vie for customers. Purchasing leotards, tutus, dance sneakers and tap shoes can seem daunting, but seek advice from someone in the know and then go bargain hunting!
Keeping healthy and keeping appositive mental attitude is important, taking some time to cultivate abilities, or just pampering can add a lot to someone’s quality of life. Trying not to dwell constantly on financial worries and other issues can be difficult, but talking to people in confidence and doing things you enjoy can make you feel brighter in no time – if tap dancing is your thing, get your taps shoes on and have a dance.
